Edward L. “Ned” Diefenthal

Mr. Diefenthal is an experienced businessman and dedicated philanthropist. He is the Owner and CEO of Woodvine Group, LLC in Metairie, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans. Woodvine Group, LLC is the holding company of Louisiana Chemical Equipment Co, LLC (LCEC) and Anvil Attachments, LLC (Anvil). LCEC is a substantial global business that buys and sells chemical plants and equipment. Anvil is engaged in the manufacturing of material handling equipment for use worldwide. Mr. Diefenthal holds a BA from Cornell University, and an MBA from Tulane University. Some of his current memberships include:

Mr. Diefenthal has extensive hands-on experience with the EPIC Development Stage 3 Pilot Plant in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Under his leadership, EPIC Oil Extractors, LLC has developed and patented a new and innovative extraction process that produces clean, refinery-ready, low-asphaltene, lower sulphur crude oil directly from mined oil sands, which is radically different from the current pollutive industry process.

Richard D. Jordan

Mr. Jordan has been working with EPIC Oil to build value in its intellectual property assets since 2008, and is a named co-inventor on several US patent applications assigned to EPIC Oil. He obtained a BA in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, a BS in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University and a JD from George Mason University School of Law. Mr. Jordan has extensive oil and gas industry experience—former Counsel at ExxonMobil Chemical Company and ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company; former US Patent Examiner, examining patent applications involving liquid-liquid separations in the chemical engineering arts; and former Refinery Process Engineer at Placid Refining Company in Port Allen, LA, having had primary responsibility for a number of refinery unit operations, including Kerr McGee’s ROSE® Process for producing deasphalted oil. Mr. Jordan has also been involved in numerous intellectual property infringement-risk assessment teams assigned to assess a variety of oil and gas technologies such as new gasoline formulations, Mobil 1 and Mobil SHC reformulations, new lubricant base stocks, new polymer technologies and new gas-to-olefins technologies.

Richard H. Schlosberg, Ph.D.

Dr. Schlosberg has been actively working with EPIC Oil as the leader of EPIC’s research and development activities since 2009. He obtained his PhD in physical-organic chemistry from Michigan State University, then worked with chemistry Nobel Laureate George Olah. Dr. Schlosberg spent 11 years with ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company before moving to ExxonMobil Chemical Company, and served for a period as chairman of ExxonMobil’s worldwide Chemical Research Committee. He retired from ExxonMobil after 30 years to set up a consultancy practice, and in that capacity has been considered an expert in many areas of hydrocarbon chemistry and processing, including serving as an expert witness. Dr. Schlosberg is a named inventor on 82 US Patents, including patents on separations and on managing hydrocarbon heavy ends. He has consulted both with start-up and well established global companies and has consulted with financial institutions seeking information about technical opportunities. He is co-inventor on several US patent applications assigned to EPIC Oil. Dr. Schlosberg has written over 70 refereed papers including papers on oil sands.

John Nowoslawski

Mr. Nowoslawski has been leading reserve acquisition and business development efforts for EPIC Oil in the United States since 2012. Prior to joining EPIC, he served as the Governor’s expert on oil sands and other advanced energy technologies while helping to create the State Office of Energy Development. Mr. Nowoslawski majored in Environmental Science and Economics at Columbia University and earned an MS in Petroleum Management from the French Petroleum Institute in Paris and an MS in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines. Mr. Nowoslawski lives with his wife in Salt Lake City, Utah, where there is estimated to be over 30 billion barrels of oil in oil sands reserves.

Marc Sketchler

Mr. Sketchler is EPIC’s Director of Operations, overseeing the day-to-day operation of EPIC's pilot plant in Ponchatoula, LA, and coordinating efforts in EPIC's push to validation and commercial launch. He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Orleans and a JD from Tulane University Law School. Mr. Sketchler has also been assisting Mr. Diefenthal in the management of Woodvine Group, LLC, and its subsidiaries, though his primary focus is with EPIC Oil.
